Dark Reverence

Dark Reverence is a piece I completed during my final term at Gnomon. It began as a project in Jon Arellano’s Environment Creation for Games class, and after some much needed practice under his guidance and with valuable feedback from Anton Napierala I was able to push my skills to the next level.
The piece is heavily inspired by an abandoned church in the Czech Republic known as The Hidden Pearl, but with a twist: what if the worship that once took place in this forgotten space had turned into something far more sinister?

Pictured above is how Dark Reverence started as a project that, looking back, was rough and unrefined. Revisiting it over time allowed me to push my skills in modeling, texturing, and lighting, transforming it into a project I’m proud to showcase. It’s a reminder of how much I’ve grown as an environment artist and how persistence and experimentation can dramatically improve the quality of a piece.
